Especially in these times of newsertainment that passes for journalism, Rachel Maddow is a progressive's port in the political storm. She doesn't jabber on and on about how much she hates the NY subway, or pal around for minutes on end with her crew, or even take lots of phone calls and let her listeners do the show. Rachel does her homework. She really knows politics and stays absolutely current on the important news. I never watch TV news, and I barely ever read a newspaper. But I never miss Rachel's passionate 2 hours on Air America Radio -- and now her own show on MSNBC! -- and I stay perfectly well informed.

It's like "meadow" but with an "ah" sound, like "bad," as in "the baddest talk-show host ever."
Did I mention Rachel has a sense of humor?

It's about damn time brains and straight talk (no pun intended!) are on radio and TV. Somebody has to counter Hannity and Limbaugh, and Rachel is the one to do it.
I love both her radio and TV shows, and I listen and watch live and then get the podcasts as well so I never miss a point. I can go back and watch or listen again as many times as I need to. We've needed a true geek to get into this, and we have a great one. Rachel, you go girl!
We geeks rule the world! The sooner popular people learn that, the better. When I think of that, I think that we could have lost Rachel to some secret CIA analysis group in the government or a quiet professorship at Harvard or another Ivy League school. I'm so glad she went public on radio and now TV!
I confess, I'm not a civics geek. I'm a science, math and history geek, but a geek none-the-less. I love it when another geek can fill me in on their specialty topics.

Keith Olbermann recently gave Maddow a "best person" award after she hosted for him. Because she drove up his ratings higher than ever before.

Very enjoyable! A new discovery for me. A new source of reliable information.
